In Roomies by Dan Canaan, Flinthoof literally beats Shandower on his way to answer the door as a female visitor arrives. This joke was inspired by reality; when I first when to his house to meet him, Dan did not bother answering his own door. Shan, visiting, was incredulous that Dan ignored the guest Dan had been so excited about receiving earlier that day, and Shan finally answered the door instead. Not long after that, Shan and I started dating. Dan apparently learned that he should answer his door when expecting a visitor.

I decided to respond to the joke with one of my own, which has nothing to do with reality.
